  • Executes job duties in support of senior team members and the Office mission while providing research and analyses of child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking issues for assigned countries for the purpose of contributing to Congressionally-mandated and Executive Order reports, engaging with foreign governments or other U.S. government officials, designing technical assistance programs, or related to other strategic interests of ILAB, or as part of analysis of trends and lessons learned that inform program evaluation, project survey, and project design activities.

If you have related research and can demonstrate some of the following experience, this could be a good job to apply to:

experience conducting research and writing reports for public consumption on international policy issues and preparing talking points, memos, letters, and background materials for senior officials on international policy issues.

Check out the questions, too.

Environmental Protection Specialist • Federal Aviation Administration (Transportation) • January 26, 2022

You should read over the posting, which gives an overview of the duties of this position - but the questionnaire gives a much clearer idea of how you’ll be evaluated. So, I would look there and see if you think your skills or knowledge base match - and then look at the job posting in more detail.

If you’ve done public-facing environmental written work, check out this similar position, at a higher grade:

Environmental Protection Specialist

The deadline and agency are the same.

Research Analyst • Office of the Inspector General, USPS • January 28, 2022 OR 100 applicants

These do fill before the deadline, so it might be a good weekend project.

The successful candidate will help gather and analyze qualitative and quantitative data related to postal issues, plan and conduct studies, speak at events related to research topics, conduct interviews with experts, and produce public analytical reports and other written products. The position requires excellent research, analytical, and critical thinking skills, as well as the ability to write reports in a clear and compelling language. Experience with quantitative data analysis is preferable.

The posting gives more detail about the responsibilities and the qualifications. Here are some that might fit subscribers:

  • Previous professional experience writing reports or research papers for a nontechnical audience and demonstrated ability to concisely communicate complicated issues.

  • Strong writing skills and experience in drafting and editing a variety of written products, such as full white papers, short reports, blogs, and brief articles.

  • Proven ability to communicate your work visually.

  • Previous experience developing and executing research methodologies. . . .

  • Intellectual curiosity and experience in imagining strategic solutions to complex problems.

But, keep in mind that you need to demonstrate each of these “evaluation factors:”

  • Knowledge of public policy, business, or economic issues.

  • Ability to conduct research and analysis, and use that information to prepare high-quality analytical reports, white papers, and other written materials.

  • Quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills for the purpose of determining systemic or procedural problems and developing findings as well as suggesting solutions.

  • Skill in preparing recommendations to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of programs, operations, or systems.

  • Ability to express and present ideas clearly and concisely, both in writing and orally.

I can’t find a link to the questionnaire in the posting, however.

International Relations Specialist • Bureau of International Labor Affairs (Labor) • February 1, 2022

If you have research related to this job, take a look:

Executes job duties in support of senior team members and the Office mission while providing research and analyses of child labor, forced labor, and human trafficking issues for assigned countries for the purpose of contributing to Congressionally-mandated and Executive Order reports, engaging with foreign governments or other U.S. government officials, designing technical assistance programs, or related to other strategic interests of ILAB, or as part of analysis of trends and lessons learned that inform program evaluation, project survey, and project design activities.

There are other duties listed. The qualifications are looking for quantitative and evaluative skills, or a related advanced degree. So, there might be a story you can tell.

Questions.

Foreign Language Teacher - Persian/Farsi (Assistant Professor) • Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center (Army) • February 11, 2022 and then every 30 days

Teach Farsi!

Assistant Professor (English) • Maritime Administration (Transportation) • February 11, 2022

You need a doctoral degree for this position with the Merchant Marine Academy, which I did not know existed. They would especially like expertise in “global Anglophone literature, American literature (including literature by women, Latinx literature, or Native American literature), or maritime literature.”

Often, TT positions at federal academies ask for the same documents as at any other academic institution. This one, however, seems to be looking for a federal résumé - and they have vacancy questions for you, too.
